A caravan and camping park owned by Carmarthenshire Council has used an air source heat pump installation to supplying energy-efficient, low-carbon hot water to its new shower facility.
M&E consultant Pursey and Ball was appointed to carry out RIBA stages 2 to 7 at Pembrey Country Park, overseeing the design, installation and maintenance of the shower facility, with Baxi providing technical design support.
The park, a previous winner of Best Campsite in South West Wales at the 2024 South West Wales Tourism Awards, needed to achieve net zero carbon operation to meet Welsh Building Regulations for new-build developments.
Additional considerations included the need to reliably meet the high demand for hot water within five male-, five female-, one family- and one accessible- shower, together with good service life expectancy, and low maintenance requirements.
Baxi’s technical sales and design teams made several visits to site before proposing an all-electric system tailored to the project requirements, which comprised a Baxi Auriga HP40 ASHP and a 1000-litre Megaflo Flexistore hot water cylinder to ensure a dependable supply of sanitary hot water for the showers, required by more than 100 visitors during peak periods..
Baxi’s engineers commissioned the system and will continue to provide maintenance support to ensure long-term high performance and efficiency.
