Tassos Kougionis to speak on Healthy Homes & Buildings at elementalLONDON
Sustainability specialist Tassos Kougionis will be providing the commercial buildings perspective to a key debate on Healthy Homes and Buildings at elementalLONDON on Wednesday 19th November at Excel London.
The debate is timely for both residential and commercial buildings. On the residential front, Awaab’s Law is now coming into force, and the unintended consequences of ECO insulation installation work are creating and accelerating mould risk in homes, while in the commercial sector, there is much focus on the effect of poor air quality on the wellbeing and productivity of occupants.
In this context the panel will examine whether national and local government action is still falling short of what is needed to protect building occupants and whether more comprehensive standards are needed.
Tassos Kougionis will be representing both McBains and Pell Frischmann, adding a critical perspective across design, operational energy performance, policy, and delivery.

The session, chaired by Jade Lewis, Partner of the Healthy Homes and Buildings Coalition, takes place on Wednesday 19 November at the elementalARENA at 14:40. Other speakers include Kelly Butler – External Affairs Director at BEAMA, Kevin Morrisey – Technical Director at BESA, Lisa Maylon – campaigner and founder of Indoor Air Aware and Richard Kemp-Harper – Chief Strategy Officer at AirEx.
Attendees will hear expert insight on the scale of the issue, the policy gaps, standards requirements and operational practice needed to ensure both homes and commercial buildings in the UK are truly healthy, not just on IAQ, but including acoustic performance, moisture, noise and overheating.
