Visitors to this year’s elementalLONDON will be able take in the sights of a two-storey house on the show floor.
Designed by award-winning architect IF_DO and built using regenerative materials by Natural Building Systems (NBS), the HAUS will act as a focal point at elementalLONDON to demonstrate our commitment to bringing the industry together in a constructive and meaningful way with the common goal of decarbonising buildings.
The HAUS will be built using NBS’s ADEPT integrated and demountable modular system. ADEPT is designed for full adaptability and non-destructive disassembly to aid circularity and reuse. As for the name, HAUS stands for Home Achieving Universal Sustainability.
The design of the HAUS visitors will see at elementalLONDON will provide cutaways and information about products to explain how the fabric and systems within it are designed to work together.
Following its appearance at elementalLONDON, the HAUS will eventually go on to become a case study at the University of Suffolk where it will be tested to study the building’s energy performance.
The ultimate goal is for it to become a pilot for sustainable developments for local authorities and commercial developers – with a social housing project already identified for potential immediate implementation. The design will take into account local housing styles to ensure it blends with traditional builds.
