Octopus Energy has partnered with Discovery Homes in Scotland, which will see 57 properties at the Tranent Grove development in North Dundee become eligible for the Zero Bills tariff as an optional upgrade.
By providing a package of technology, comprising a heat pump, battery and solar panels the Zero Bills concept guarantees no home energy bills for at least 5-10 years – although EV charging remains a chargeable tariff. The company has a target of 100,000 Zero Bills homes by 2030.
Grant White, Director, Discovery Homes, said:
This is the new gold standard for Scottish housing. Our mission has always been to build properties that don’t just meet today’s standards but anticipate the needs of the future. Partnering with Octopus Energy to deliver Scotland’s first Zero Bills homes at Tranent Grove is a proud milestone for us. By integrating cutting-edge green technology with our high-quality builds, we are offering our owners long-term financial peace of mind and a sustainable lifestyle that was once a pipe dream.”
Octopus Energy has continued its acceleration of its Zero Bills concept, following its recent launch in France, joining the UK, Germany and New Zealand.
The company says it has now approved Zero Bills eligibility for over 5,000 homes through partnerships with developers, covering affordable and private rent, plus private and shared ownership properties.
Nigel Banks, Zero Bills Director, Octopus Energy, said:
Scotland is a renewable energy powerhouse – making it the perfect next spot for us to roll out Zero Bills homes. By working with leading developers like Discovery Homes, we’re shaking up the future of housing, bringing the reality of no home energy bills to the people of Scotland.”
The homes on the Tranent Grove development are BOPAS accredited for offsite-built construction, ensuring mortgageability for a minimum of 60 years.
