The founders of the Copper Sustainability Partnership (CuSP), Lawton Tubes and Mueller Europe, have announced that all their copper products will now come with a 75-year warranty, which they say effectively insures them for life against manufacturing defects
The CSP said that the 75-year warranty is part of the ongoing commitment to highlighting the strength of copper. When installed and maintained correctly, copper pipes can last up to 80 years, which is twice the life span of plastic equivalents, it claimed.
The new warranty is applicable for all plumbers and specifiers purchasing copper products from both of the manufacturers and covers any manufacturing defects.
Oliver Lawton, md of Lawton Tubes and co-founder of the Copper Sustainability Partnership (pictured) said:
Material choice in plumbing is not just a matter of installation convenience. Water pipes should be viewed through the lens of safety, performance, and durability. UK plumbing pipes need to perform reliably over many years, often under changing temperatures, variable pressure, and daily use. This is why this new warranty is in place.”
Copper is an infinitely recyclable material that can be recovered and reused time again without any loss of quality, Oliver added:
We believe and trust in copper piping as it is proven, robust and resistant to many issues that affect its plastic equivalents, but if any manufacturing faults were to occur, we know that our customers have peace of mind that the issue will be resolved and recycle their old pipes to be used again.”
