Bristol City Leap has updated the eligibility criteria for the Bright Green Homes project to include homes with gas heating
The collaborative initiative between Bristol City Council, North Somerset Council, and Bath & Northeast Somerset Council aims to support households throughout the South West in implementing essential energy-saving upgrades.
The news means that householders with gas boilers,can now apply for grant funding aimed at improving energy efficiency and advancing low-carbon solutions that foster warmer and healthier living spaces and ultimately provide cleaner air for everyone.
Councillor Martin Fodor, Chair of the Environment & Sustainability Committee, said: “This updated eligibility condition marks a significant step forward in our commitment to improving energy efficiency and keeping people warm across our communities.
It allows more households to access essential funding that will not only enhance their living conditions and reduce bills but also contribute to our city’s efforts to reduce carbon emissions. Together, we can create a healthier and more sustainable Bristol.”
Mark Apsey MBE, Senior Vice President at Ameresco, added, “This will provide even more homeowners the opportunity to make impactful energy-saving upgrades. Our professional Bristol based team is standing by to help applicants make the most of this free offer to improve their homes, having already delivered for over 370 households in the region.”
Eligible households can receive free installs of a wide range of insulation and low-carbon technologies, including: insulation; heat pumps, solar PV, window and door replacement; ventilation upgrades; and electric storage heaters.
To qualify for funding the applicants must possess an EPC rating of D or under and meet residency and income requirements.
