From Policy to Practice – NHIC Brings the Installer Voice to elementalLONDON

The National Home Improvement Council (NHIC) will lead a powerful series of live content sessions at elementalLONDON, bringing together policymakers, industry leaders, and frontline installers to shape the future of home improvement and retrofit delivery.

NHIC Chief Executive Anna Scothern and expert partners will explore how the UK can accelerate decarbonisation, improve safety, and strengthen consumer trust – from the workshop to Westminster, all aligned with the NHIC’s core principles of Reduce, Respect, Rebuild.

Across two days, sessions will cover everything from evolving building regulations and retrofit standards to installer skills, consumer protection, and real-world data use. Highlights include:

• Raising the Bar: New Standards and Regulations for Safer, Greener Homes – unpacking the Future Homes Standard, building safety reforms, and compliance frameworks such as PAS 2035.
• Installers at the Heart of Decarbonisation – part of NHIC’s Installer Voice project, funded by Innovate UK, which captures national feedback from tradespeople to shape future retrofit support
• Protect What Matters – exploring how warranties, insurance-backed guarantees, and fair practices can safeguard homeowners’ investments.
• Quality & Competence: Building a High-Standards Workforce – featuring CITB, FMB, and NHIC experts on training and certification for retrofit and renovation excellence.
• Future Homes – Net Zero & Social Value – a keynote from Anna Scothern connecting housing policy to decarbonisation, health, and social impact.

Together, these sessions will showcase NHIC’s ongoing mission to raise standards, amplify the installer voice, and unite government, industry, and consumers in improving the nation’s homes.

The sessions form part of NHIC’s 60-year commitment to championing quality, competence, and consumer protection across the home improvement sector, and its belief that collaboration is key to achieving the UK’s net zero and building safety goals.
