Daikin launches compact, carbon-cutting AHU for NHS estates
Daikin Applied UK has introduced a new air handling solution designed specifically for hospitals under pressure to cut carbon while meeting strict compliance requirements.
The HTM-Pro T Series AHU has been developed with the realities of NHS facilities in mind: tight budgets, limited plantroom space and the growing need to align with the NHS Net Zero Building Standard. With widths starting from just 1100mm, top-entry ductwork and side pipework connections, the unit can be installed flush to plantroom walls, making it well suited to refurbishment projects and constrained sites.
Compliance and efficiency built in
The system is fully HTM 03-01 compliant, with features that support infection control and simplify estates team maintenance. Tool-free drain trays, no-reach filter access and internal LED lighting are all designed to make inspection and servicing safer and quicker.
Energy efficiency is also central to the design. The unit integrates high-efficiency EC plug fans with IE5/IE6 motors, delivers Specific Fan Power as low as 1.75 W/l/s, and achieves up to 80% energy recovery through its counterflow plate heat exchanger. Digital controls enable demand-based operation, night setback and free cooling. Together these measures lower running costs and emissions while safeguarding critical ventilation performance.
Supporting the NHS net zero standard
Manufactured and tested in the UK, the HTM-Pro T Series reduces transport emissions and supports local supply chains. Its compact form also means lower embodied carbon through reduced materials and easier logistics.
