British Gas strikes appliance and service deal with build-to-rent firm Broadford
British Gas is to supply a ‘total solution’ to developments for build‑to‑rent firm Broadford, covering energy supply, smart and low-carbon appliance installation and ongoing services.
The utility says the new partnership will deliver smarter homes designed to cut energy bills for renters and future-proofed properties for landlords.
The partnership will see British Gas engineers install a full suite of connected and energy‑efficient technologies, including Samsung appliances, compatible smart technology and air source heat pumps, while solar PV will be installed by accredited installation partners. The partnership has already seen 29 plots completed, with another 160 in development.
Peter Wyatt, Partner at Broadford said:
Our vision for tech-enabled, energy efficient homes and an enhanced service experience is supported by British Gas and their unique ability to provide comprehensive installation services as well as ongoing service support to our team and products and cost saving solutions to our tenants.”
British Gas said the partnership is designed to deliver a seamless living experience for tenants, while helping landlords improve energy performance and future‑proof their portfolios. Its engineers will also provide servicing, compliance and insurance cover, including heating system cover, electrical infrastructure and white goods protection, and plumbing and drains cover.
James Hughes, Director of Strategic Housing Partnerships at British Gas said:
This partnership with Broadford shows what’s possible when low‑carbon heating and trusted home services come together at scale. By delivering everything from installation to ongoing maintenance and protection, we’re helping Broadford future‑proof their properties while giving tenants more comfortable, energy‑efficient homes. It’s a clear example of how British Gas is supporting the transition to lower‑carbon living in the rental market, without adding complexity for customers.”
